SUMMARY:CEO Works Luncheon | The Prioritization Paradox: How to Do More with Less
DESCRIPTION:CEO Works is a peer-to-peer private group wherein advice always comes from like-minded people solving real problems and with experience in similar situations. Come make new connections and learn from the best. CEO Works events typically start and end with approximately 15-20 minutes of networking and include either a presentation or discussion in between. Learn more and sign up here to join the group. \nPresentation Description \nThe Core Issue: For organizations to survive\, they need to prioritize. However\, to thrive\, they must activate those priorities and communicate them effectively so teams can synchronize their work. Those teams\, in turn\, must be composed of individual contributors and front-line managers who treat prioritization as more than a personal productivity or time management hack. \nThe challenge: Prioritization is a deceptively tricky topic that lurks behind the scenes yet informs everything. It’s a fundamental skill\, but we are never taught how to do it. It’s more than just a to-do list. You can prioritize almost anything\, not just goals\, projects\, and tasks; values\, for example. Our main challenge is finding new methods to reach goals among multiple teams with conflicting priorities. \nThe good news: There is a repeatable process model. Some approaches are better than others\, especially for organizations and teams. This conversation will help you gain a profound new level of clarity about HOW exactly go about creating better plans and making smarter decisions. \nThis presentation will equip you with a powerful framework for: \n\nBreaking through the prioritization paralysis: Learn to cut through the noise and identify what truly matters.\nAligning teams around shared objectives: Foster collaboration and eliminate the frustration of conflicting priorities.\nMaking smarter decisions: learn how to strategically prioritize what you avoid\, choose the easiest and most efficient path to success\, identify items with the highest cost of delay\n\nAbout the Presenter \nHarry Max is the author of “Managing Priorities: Creating Better Plans and Making Smarter Decisions\,” the first book solely aimed at prioritization for organizations\, teams\, and individuals.\nAn executive player-coach\, consultant\, and hands-on Product leader\, Harry is a servant leader at heart. He works with CEOs and their leadership teams to help them realize their visions\, build robust organizations\, and zero in on pragmatic solutions to complex challenges.\nHarry’s experience includes having been a founder/CEO\, fractional executive\, VP\, coach\, and consultant with start-ups\, innovators\, and global brands\, including Apple\, Adobe\, DreamWorks\, Docusign\, Google\, Hewlett-Packard\, Microsoft\, PayPal\, Rackspace\, Silicon Graphics (SGI)\, Skype\, Symantec\, and USAA.\nHarry is an NLP Master Practitioner and graduate of the Hoffman Institute and Aspen Institute Tech Executive Leadership Initiative (TELI).

SUMMARY:Winter Warmer Festival
DESCRIPTION:Come warm up inside the beautiful Bret Harte Opera Hall for a day of great music\, local comfort food and some of the best craft beer the area has to offer. \nWhat’s included\n-Live music from local and regional touring acts\n-Craft beer\n-Comfort food\n-beautiful venue nestled in the redwood forest\n-free parking \nItinerary\n3 PM – Doors \n3:30 PM – Rory Lynch \n5 PM – Benjamin Andrews (of Con Brio) \n6:15 PM – Greg Loiacono & Stingray \n8 PM – Forrest Day \nHighlights \nCome out and warm up with a celebration of great music\, beer\, food and community. \nAbout our Artists: \nForrest Day – Based out of Oakland\, Forrest Day is a 5 piece band that’s been performing concerts around the country for almost a decade. It’s a true rags to riches story\, but without any money. New album in the works\, shows being booked\, this wonka boat is showing no signs of slowing…combining elements of jazz\, hip hop and more\, this is a don’t miss act. \nGreg Loiacono & Stingray – While Greg Loiacono may be best known as a gritty rock and soul man from his work with The Mother Hips and Chris Robinson\, the singer who emerges on Giving It All Away\, his charismatic new solo album\, is a far more sensitive storyteller\, one whose tender delivery and heartfelt lyrics lay it all on the line in the plainspoken poetry of Bill Withers or The Everly Brothers. \nBenjamin Andrews – Benjamin Andrews is a guitarist\, lyricist\, vocalist and legend in Bay Area rock‘n’roll. Equally at home playing a dive bar or a festival stage in front of thousands of people\, Andrews has spent the last 20 years in and around San Francisco\, making a name for himself as a guitar virtuoso with jaw-dropping chops\, a natural showmanship and deeply expressive style. As a veteran member of the acclaimed R&B/modern soul band Con Brio\, he’s performed at the likes of Bonnaroo\, Austin City Limits\, Outside Lands\, Lollapalooza\, Japan’s FujiRock and Australia’s Byron Bay BluesFest. \n2024’s YOU’RE DOING GREAT\,is Andrews’ first major solo work\, a compelling collection of songs he wrote between 2022 and 2024 and recorded at Con Brio’s Oakland studio. While sweeping\, cinematic strings and driving rhythms accompany Andrews’ typically stunning guitar work\, his soulful vocals take center stage here\, drawing the listener close with conflicted meditations on love and self-destruction\, death and rebirth. At once tender and tough\, vulnerable yet sonically vast\, YOU’RE DOING GREAT reveals a musician who’s seen some things\, lived some lives\, and is ready to let us in. \nRory Lynch is a singer/songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, and composer based in Santa Cruz\, CA. His music encompasses classic genres like country\, jazz\, and pop while blending in classic Americana themes. His debut album “Sittin’ On The Well” is out now on all streaming platforms.

SUMMARY:The Landing Open House
DESCRIPTION:What’s in a Name? \nThe Scotts Valley Cultural & Performing Arts Center has a new name – “The Landing”. \nThe new name comes with a tag line – A Performing Arts & Event Center. \nOn Saturday\, February 1st from 5-7pm we will host an open house to show the community all the amazing additions we’ve made since we opened on October 1\, 2022.\nWe are proud to report that so far\, we have had over 100 performances with over 20\,000 attendees. Productions included Dance Companies\, Plays from local schools and community theater companies\, Concerts\, Recitals\, Lectures\, Comedy\, the Mayor’s State of the City presentation and even an Alfred Hitchcock festival. \nWhile “The Scotts Valley Cultural & Performing Arts Center” as a name is very descriptive\, it’s also a mouthful that doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. Plus\, it often gets confused with Scotts Valley Performing Arts (SVPA)\, our local community theater company. Then there is the lighted sign above the entrance that says “Theater”. Folks regularly mistake us for the local movie theater. \nThe history of Scotts Valley includes our very own airport called\, you guessed it\, Sky Park which operated from 1947 to 1983. Now Sky Park includes a beautiful City Park that hosts numerous sporting events\, concerts and festivals\, plus the Sky Park housing development on the west side of the park. Now there is also a building on the south side of the park called “The Hanger”\, which hosts some very cool shops including The Laughing Monk Brew Pub. Since our performing arts center sits adjacent to Sky Park and across from “The Hanger” our new name “The Landing” helps to tie it all together. \nA large chunk of the Sky Park Airport property has laid vacant since the airport closed. Part of it was owned by the City of Santa Cruz and part by the City of Scotts Valley. The management and City Councils of the two towns recently agreed on the sale of the Santa Cruz piece to Scotts Valley. After 40 years of planning Scotts Valley may finally be able to build a town center on the Sky Park property. We would like to have a little 20’ sliver of that land added to the back side of our facility so we can add an addition to the building for permanent restrooms\, dressing rooms and storage space\, none of which fit very well within the current space. If you have been to one of our performances you know that 50 tiny dancers or high school students can make a bit of noise while they are changing costumes. \nThe Landing was built by and is managed by the non-profit Scotts Valley Community Theater Guild (SVCTG). It is a configurable facility currently arranged in a Proscenium Configuration with 264 theater seats + a designated area for 10 ADA + 10 companions up front for a total seating capacity of 284 patrons. The performance area on stage is 40’wx28’d with 25’ of wings on both sides. We have full theatrical lighting\, sound and video capability\, including a 22’w retractable movie screen and 2 baby grand pianos. “Configurable” is a key feature of the facility. The curtains pull back and the 24 Platforms with 11 seats each\, can be reconfigured or removed to add a thrust or accommodate a large banquet. The possible uses for the Landing are endless. \nSo come see what’s here. You are invited to join us for our open house on February 1st…And for one of the many events planned in the coming months. The Landing is located at 251B Kings Village Road across from the Scotts Valley Transit Center. We are the left end of the building we share with the Scotts Valley Library.\nLook for the big sign that says “Theater”. \nFor information about coming events and/or how to rent the facility\, go to the Scotts Valley Community Theater Guild website – svctheaterguild.org.
