DESCRIPTION:Expressions of The Valley: Poetry & Art Contest\, hosted by Scotts Valley Recreation & the Scotts Valley Arts Commission is excited to announce this year’s theme: “Explore”\n\n\nWe invite students and adults from the Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley communities to showcase their creativity in our Poetry & Art Contest! Participants can compete in poetry and art categories.\nWinner will be selected from each age group for both poetry and art. All entries will be displayed at the Poetry and Art Showcase May 16th; where winners will have the chance to present their art or read their poems. Poems will be published in a printed collection\, with one winning artwork chosen as the cover design!\n\n\nPoetry submissions are accepted via Google Form\, and art submissions dropped off at Recreation office at Skypark. This is a wonderful opportunity for local writers and artists to share their talents with the community! DESCRIPTION:The Watsonville Community Band will feature acclaimed actress and vocalist Judy Norton in concert on Saturday\, April 5th at 2:00 PM at Peace United Church in Santa Cruz. The free performance\, entitled “Lions\, Tigers\, & Marches! Oh My!” will showcase Judy’s artistry as she sings songs by George Gershwin and “Over the Rainbow” by Harold Arlen\, and the Band will perform a wide variety of marches\, Broadway show tunes\, and band classics. Judy Norton\, launched to international fame when she starred as Mary Ellen for 9 years in the Emmy Award winning series “The Waltons.” Since then\, she has gone on to numerous television guest-starring roles in film and television while also working in stage productions in the US and Canada.

To commemorate this milestone\, we are holding the SVHS 25th Anniversary Gala on April 26th to celebrate SVHS’ past\, present and future. We anticipate 120 alumni\, former and current teachers/staff/board members\, elected officials and community members to attend. The event will include a no host cocktail hour\, buffet\, speakers\, silent auction\, live auction and dancing. Our goal is to raise $25k to support current and future Falcons in the areas of wellness programs\, grants for seniors with financial need to attend prom and other senior activities\, campus beautification projects\, college scholarships and student leadership conference participation.
