DESCRIPTION:About This Learning Event\nEach of us plays a role in ending homeless in America. Do you know yours? Join likehearted attendees for an immersive evening of nourishing food\, conversations that matter and meaningful solutions at Community Connections: Key to Resolving Homelessness\, a dinner benefit and panel discussion on Wednesday\, Nov. 29 at the nonprofit 1440 Multiversity campus in Scotts Valley. \nFollowing a locally sourced and sustainable dinner at 1440 Kitchen Table\, participants will enjoy an engaging keynote with Kevin Adler\, author and founder of Miracle Messages\, who will discuss his new book\, When We Walk By\, and the crucial role of connections between those experiencing homelessness and their community members. A housing-focused Q&A and panel discussion with Adler; Tom Stagg\, Chief Initiatives Officer at Housing Matters; Paz Padilla\, Director of Programs and Impact at Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County\, Inc.\, and Dr. Robert Ratner\, Director of the Housing for Health Division of the County of Santa Cruz will be moderated by 1440 Foundation co-creator Scott Kriens. All attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Adler’s book during a book signing that will close the evening. \nThis community event is co-sponsored by 1440 Foundation and the Santa Cruz County Housing for Health Partnership\, with proceeds benefitting nonprofits focused on providing resources and services for those experiencing homelessness in Santa Cruz County and nationally: Community Action Board\, Housing Matters and Miracle Messages. The event will also launch a new partnership between Miracle Messages and Housing Matters/Community Action Board that is focused on bringing Miracle Messages services to Santa Cruz County\, directly supporting people experiencing homelessness. \nEvent Schedule: \n\n5:00-5:30 p.m.: Arrival & Registration\n5:30-6:30 p.m.: Dinner at Kitchen Table; sustainable\, locally sourced\, and mindfully prepared\n6:45-8:30 p.m.: Keynote & Panel Discussion in Redwood Auditorium\n8:30-9:00 p.m.: Book signing with Kevin Adler; all attendees will receive a complimentary copy of Adler’s new book\, When We Walk By\n9:00 p.m.: Event Concludes & Campus Departures\n\n\nPrice: $85 per person\, includes dinner at Kitchen Table and a complimentary copy of When We Walk By. All proceeds benefit local nonprofits. \nDinner Menu: \nDue to the seasonality of the sustainable ingredients we source from local farms\, the Kitchen Table lunch menu will be available and posted approximately one week prior to the event date. A plant-based option is always available. \nEvent Notes: \n\nThe start time of the dinner is 5:30 p.m.\, and guests may check into campus up to 30 minutes before to enjoy our Lodge Retail Shop\, Bridge of Intentions and Common Grounds Patio.\nThis is an indoor event\, held at Kitchen Table and Redwood Auditorium.\nDue to the seasonality of the sustainable ingredients we source from local farms\, the Kitchen Table lunch menu will be available and posted approximately one week prior to the event date.
